Program Summary
The entire curriculum included in this program is derived from the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1021 Fire Company Officer material (Officer I). The International Fire Service Training Association (IFSTA), 3rd edition, is where the material can be referenced. All participants of this program will receive an electronic or hard copy of the IFSTA 3rd edition Fire Department Company Officer manual. This manual will be used throughout the delivery of the program. Each participant of the program (a roster of attendees will be needed in advance) will receive pre-course study material (at a later date) that will assist them in preparation for the course.
Each group activity will encompass a group and or individual assignment specific to the material that is being covered at the time. A group activity may also include role playing by some or all of the students.
At the end of each module, the Instructor will administer a quiz to the students which they will have 10-15 minutes to complete. The quizzes will be collected, graded, recorded, and finally given back to the students for discussion. The student will be provided with a “records release” form that they will have to sign so that their quiz and final test score can be provided to their Training Officer and or Chief Fire Officer of their respective organization. This information can assist the organization with the further development of the employee. The student’s final exam will be a 50 question multiple choice test which requires at least a 70% in order for them to pass the course.
The Freeman Group (TFG) is currently pursuing a partnership with a certification entity so that the certification classes that are administered such as Officer I will have an IFSAC (International Fire Service Accreditation Congress) or NPQS (National Professional Qualification Standard) seal. Regardless of the outcome of this endeavor, each participant will be issued a certificate of completion in partnership with TFG and CAFC.

We bagan our Sponsors Program in 2006, increased Sponsor participation and created the CAFC Vanguard for our dedicated corporate sponsors. Here are our 2010 Sponsors by Category. The CAFC appreciates their committment, and looks to bring them into our Brigades and Departments to support us in the field and throughout our community.
