For more than 7 years, the Caribbean fire services had discussed the desire and value to launching an annual firefighter challenge. In 2009, the CAFC took this responsibility and made it a commitment. Once a clear plan was developed, Rosenbauer stepped up to the plate to once again support the region and became the anchor sponsor (along with their associate Indocom Ltd.).
To simply say that the CAFC 2009 Firefighter Challenge was a success would be to understate just how major and significant this truly was.
Firefighters from across the Caribbean were energized and inspired and began practicing for the event based on the provided specifications. A mix of national, regional and personal pride was in the air. This was a chance for the largest to the smallest Caribbean islands to meet on the level field of competition in search of the "Best of the Best". You could see, hear and taste the sense of pride at the event as women in the stands created and sang songs to urge each competitor on, dueling MCs spiced up the competetive spirits (in good fun) and our professional ran the event with precision and great skill.
We were all winners.
